Pomegranate Question by smileladybughugs: I picked a pomegranate off a bush now how do i grow my own i live in northwest florida?
Can I start it now late sept.? if i need to wait til spring how do i get one to plant i only see them here in fall

You can grow a pomegranate from the seeds, but that's not the best way to do it because the plant that grows from the seeds might not have very good fruit. What you want to do is take a cutting from the bush in late winter or early spring. You would stick the cutting in a pot with some potting soil, keep it very moist, and hope that it develops roots. Usually applying some rooting hormone to the root end of the cutting helps increase the percentage that will develop. Once the plant has some strong roots you can transplant it out to your garden. Or just buy a plant from a nursery.
If you wanted to save the seeds and plant them later you could dry them out until you needed them, but I don't think you need to. Just plant them in a pot and keep watering them. Depending on temperatures and conditions they might not sprout until spring. It takes six weeks at least for them to sprout.
